Rosary
The Rosary (its name comes from the
Latin "rosarium," meaning "crown of roses"), is an important and
traditional devotion of the Roman Catholic Church, combining prayer
and meditation in sequences of ten "Hail Marys," each sequence being
called a decade.

Om or Ohm
(also Aum, Ohm) is a
mystical or sacred syllable in the Dharmic religions. It is
placed at the beginning of most Hindu texts as a sacred
exclamation to be uttered at the beginning and end of a reading
of the Vedas or previously to any prayer or mantra. The Mandukya
Upanishad is entirely devoted to the explanation of the
syllable. [Signification : Poweful]
Roses
/ flowers
The Rose in the West
represents what the Lotus does in the East. A symbol of love,
but especially of a love that is pure. Because of the roses’
beauty, scent and shape, it is the ultimate floral symbol. Of
all the flower tattoo designs, the rose is still the most
popular and the most requested. Interestingly, the rose is
nearly as popular with men as it is with women. Flowers as
tattoo designs and symbols can be far more than just pretty
pictures on pretty girls. Flowers are the embodiment of nature
and concise symbols of the cycle of birth, life, procreation,
death and rebirth. Specific flowers have come to represent a
myriad of different beliefs in different cultures.
Angel
An angel tattoo design
is an overtly religious symbol. Angels are anthropomorphic -
meaning in the shape of men - winged forms intended to transmit
the word of God to humankind. Angels personify divine will and
are the messengers of God. Winged messengers appear in a number
of religions as intermediaries between the spiritual and
material worlds, but appear most often in Islamic, Jewish but
most particularly the Christian faiths.
Om
or Ohm
(also Aum, Ohm) is a
mystical or sacred syllable in the Dharmic religions. It is
placed at the beginning of most Hindu texts as a sacred
exclamation to be uttered at the beginning and end of a reading
of the Vedas or previously to any prayer or mantra. The Mandukya
Upanishad is entirely devoted to the explanation of the
syllable.
Fairy
The Fairy as a tattoo design can be
as simple as a take-off on the often overpowering presence of corporate America
in pop-culture, think Tinkerbell and Disney creatures, or it harkens back to a
rich history of story, myth and folklore. Fairies in literature are often the
personification of human wishes and desire in the form of little people with
magical powers
Ouroboros
The Serpent biting its
own tail, is first seen as early as 1600 years BC in Egypt. From
there it moved to the Phoenicians and then to the Greeks, who
called it the Ouroboros, which means devouring its tail. The
serpent biting its tail is found in other cultural mythologies
as well, including Norse myth, where the serpent's name is
Jörmungandr, and in Hindu, where the dragon circles the tortoise
which supports the four elephants that carry the world.
Sacred
Heart
The Sacred Heart is a
medieval symbol of Christ’s sacrifice, particularly within the
Roman Catholic Church. The sacred heart signifies the redeeming
love of God as the source of illumination and happiness, hence
the flames, and the thorns representing the Crown of Thorns that
Christ wore on the Cross. As a tattoo design, large, brilliantly
coloured Sacred Hearts have become very popular tattoo designs
with women in the New School genre of tattooing, with the image
often having a place of prominence of the chest or ribcage.
